Frequently asked questions

Making plans for your retirement years is a big deal—we get that. And we know you have questions. Below are some of the most frequent questions we’re asked about senior living in general, and Canterbury Court specifically. If you have more questions and would like to speak to a member of our team, let’s talk.

Canterbury Court is a Life Plan Community, often referred to as a continuing care retirement community, sponsored by All Saints’ and St. Luke’s Episcopal Churches of Atlanta, Georgia. In 1960, the two churches formed a nonprofit corporation to create the community, governed by a local volunteer board appointed by the sponsoring churches.

A Life Plan Community is an organization established to provide a quality residential environment in which older adults may live actively and independently, secure in the knowledge that support and services, including a continuum of care, are available if their needs should change. Monarch Pavilion is home to all of our higher levels of care, including assisted living, memory support, and skilled nursing.

Canterbury Court offers 317 apartments for independent living, in a range of sizes and floor plans, as well as 42 apartments for assisted living, 21 apartments for memory support, and 40 apartments for skilled nursing & rehabilitation.

Canterbury Court has a stunning garden, an attractive reception area and lounge, library, chapel, outdoor terraces, card room, 4C’s corner shop, multiple dining venues, private dining room, multiple meeting rooms and lounges, woodworking shop, arts and crafts studio, business center, billiards room, theater, wellness center, an in-house clinic, exercise areas, and indoor heated swimming pool and whirlpool. Canterbury Court’s landscaped grounds and gardens cover more than ten acres and offer paved walking trails, a gazebo, greenhouse, and protected natural habitats certified by the Atlanta Audubon Society and National Wildlife Federation. Individual garden plots are available on request.

Yes, residents are welcome to put their signature touches on their apartment. Any structural or physical change or renovation must first be approved by management and is the financial responsibility of the resident. Custom renovations remain the property of Canterbury Court.

Residents must be 62 years old or older. At entry, residents must be functionally independent and in good health.

There may be a waiting list for certain apartments. Floor plans include studio; alcove; and one-, two- or three-bedroom apartments, with or without a den. If no apartments are available in the desired style and location, a prospective resident may join our Canterbury Club. There may be a membership fee to join the wait list. For more information and to obtain a copy of the Wait List Agreement, call 404-857-3927 and speak to one of our Retirement Counselors.
